London-based Hungarian singer, songwriter, producer, sound designer, and Alternatíva founder nównøis makes music for people who like being alone. Her sound slips between dark r&b, trip-hop, avant-pop, and experimental electronica — built from field recordings, sampled everyday noise, and vocals that move from fragile confession to fierce refusal. Her work has drawn international collaborators and tastemaker support, positioning her as one of the city’s most distinctive leftfield voices.

A: If you curated the ultimate festival, who’s headlining?
N: Portishead (and i’d put Massive Attack, Tricky, FKA twigs, and Alanis Morissette right before them, just to leave everyone slightly wrecked. hopefully, i'd get a slot too.)

A: What’s one tool / technique / obsession shaping your work lately?
N: building songs from “real life” audio — room tone, street sounds, little mistakes — then treating them like instruments. i’ve been obsessed with chopping vocals into rhythm, and letting silence do half the work.

A: Which track or performance should someone experience first, and why?
N: “like a river” — it’s the clearest doorway into my world: intimate, dark, cinematic, and emotionally honest. live, it sets the tone fast. it has the most remix versions as well. seems like it's an inspiring piece.

A: Where does your art meet art — who/what has influenced you outside music?
N: film editing and textile-like layering. i’m influenced by minimal, brutal spaces (concrete, stairwells, underpasses), and by the way movement can say what language can’t. i think in rhythm, textures, and emotions more than stories and. besides music, i often get an urge to express myself in poetry, painting, drawing, diy merch, fashion design, and the list goes on.

A: Where can we hear you next?
N: i highly recommend diving deep into my latest EP "verses", before catching me live at Cable Fest (28 February) or the Dublin Castle in Camden (27 March), or at Szimpla Kert in Budapest (11 April). and i can't wait for the next Alternatíva night soon to be announced.
